Epoxy Flooring: Every Designer’s Dream

04 Mar

Commonly found in garages and basements, epoxy is a combined chemical that consists of a resin and a hardener which, once dry, produces a tough, long-lasting coating.  In addition to being strong, this coating is impenetrable to oil and is slip-resistant, making it an excellent product to use on flooring in a heavy-traffic area.  However, the industrial world isn’t the only place where epoxy flooring is hailed.  Within the design industry, epoxy is recognized as being more than just a way to protect a floor.  It’s also viewed as an extremely versatile product, blinds, capable of transforming a ho-hum area into a show-stopping work of art.  So, even if you don’t need an industrial strength floor, you might consider getting epoxy flooring for its aesthetic appeal.

Part of the interest designers have in epoxy flooring is that once completely dry, the floor will present a high, glossy shine.  Although this gloss is common to any epoxy brand, many companies achieve this look by putting an additional topcoat over the standard epoxy mix.  Fortunately, with some companies, that’s not necessary.  All of their epoxy mixes contain a built-in UV inhibitor – the ingredient necessary to produce long lasting sheen.  This gives the buyer a professional shine without the added work. Wedding Gazebos Stress Form and Function

14 May

Wedding gazebos are a timeless staple of celebration decor which add class and style to any event, but especially enhance the beauty of a wedding.

Traditionally, the gazebos are octagon, providing a Victorian or Colonial feel the design. The size you’re looking for will be dependent on how you plan to use the gazebo. Smaller structures work well for small ceremonies in which the wedding party uses the shelter as a focal point. But, larger gazebos can cover whole receptions.

The octagon gazebos add to the landscape portrait as well as service a functional purpose. Many ceremonies have been conducted at the gazebo entrance, with the presiding official at the gazebo entrance between the columns and the happy couple just below.

Many more wedding photos have included the wedding gazebo, sometimes with the wedding party outlining the structure. Read the rest of this entry »

So many times people will end up giving wall art as a gift only to disappoint the recipient. There are several things that you can keep in mind that will help to make this something that is not going to happen. Whether you are getting European tapestries or a small oil painting you are going to need to make sure that you are able to get them something that you know that they will love.

Space Conscious

You have got to keep in mind the amount of space that they have. This is where it can get difficult to get a piece of art for somebody other than yourself. You can end up making them feel self conscious if you get something that is too big for their home. However, if you get something that is too small it may be difficult for them to be able to find a place for it where it can be appreciated. Heating Your Home Efficiently with a Heat Pump

04 Apr

A recent study by the Energy Saving Trust of Northern Ireland on domestic heat pump systems indicates that the highest energy efficiencies were achieved by the most basic home heating systems.

Heat pumps offer home owners a method of obtaining hot water and heating their house by taking advantage of the heat trapped just below the ground in their gardens and lawns. In the ground source system, the heat pump circulates a refrigerant which collects the heat trapped in the ground around the house and delivers it into the house. During the winter, the soil under gardens is at a higher temperature than the air above it and the ground source heat pump system uses this situation to move heat around to the place it is wanted, in exactly the same way as a kitchen fridge operates, but on a larger scale. The beauty of a curved staircase

15 Mar

Staircases are generally just used for the practical purpose of getting up and down stairs. However, there are some homes that have beautiful staircases that are more of a feature of the home rather than a practical tool used for getting upstairs. Some staircases are so beautiful that they can act as the main focal point for the downstairs of a home. However, this may become a problem for homes that require a stairlift and yet have a curved staircase.

Many homes today do have curved staircases, whether or not they are beautiful or merely practical. A curved staircase saves space within the home and reduces the amount of wasted space underneath the stairs. Yet many people living in such homes may require the need of a stairlift. Thus may not only refer to older people suffering from old age and the ailments that age can bring. Some younger people too may find that the need for a stairlift is required when an injury or a debilitating illness makes it difficult for a person to walk up and down stairs with ease. It is for this reason that many people have found curved stairlifts so useful.

Curved stairlifts are easy to find and easy to install. They ensure that a beautiful home and a beautiful staircase remain beautiful, even after a stairlift has been fitted. Moreover, a stairlift does not have to be a permanent feature within a home, a curved stairlift can be taken out of a home just as easily as it was installed.

Motion Sensor Outdoor Lighting – Types and Installation Tips

14 Mar

Most people in the market for this type of lighting have security concerns as a primary motivation for implementing this integral component of a home security system.  This landscape lighting component is typically used to illuminate outdoor pathways, front porch lights, fences, gates, stairwells and driveways as a deterrence against crime, theft and other feared mischief.

Motion sensor outdoor lighting works off a pretty simple premise: the fixtures turn on when motion is detected (sensed) and turn themselves off after a fixed period of time.  In order for the sensor to turn on, an object merely needs to move through the signal of the sensor.  Once this occurs, the signal emitted from the fixture reflects back to the sensor, thereby turning the light on.
